increasing font size without changing dpi

Increasing font size without changing DPI ?

Hi,
I use a Dell Inspiron 6000 running at 1680x1050, 96 DPI. As usual, the font & icons appear smaller, which is ok for me, but not for my family members. Changing DPI doesn't work because the icons and other graphics look blurred.
In WinXP, there was an option to change the font size to "Large" (in appearance tab) without changing the DPI. This worked for me and my fonts were bigger and icons were crisp. Unfortunately this option is not available in Vista. So I'm stuck with tiny fonts. Is there any way or a hack to change the font size in Vista ??
Best Regards, Amar.
